So, welcome to my blog! Hopefully you find this at least a little bit interesting
My earliest memory of school is
My earliest memory of school would actually have to be my first day of ‘Vorschule’ which I think is Prep. I’m not really sure. I never did childcare, kindergarden, pre-prep and all. Just prep. I think the reason for this is probably just because my parents wanted as much time as they could have with me, or also because we move around, alot. I started prep at the German European School Singapore (GESS). Yes, in singapore. I started a little later than everyone, maybe a few months. All I remember is coming into the classroom with my pink flower-patterned dress and walking straight towards the ‘colouring-in table’. Of course, everybody was exceptionally nice and friendly, unfortunately I only stayed at that school for a year and a half until I went off to Sydney.
I learn best when/by
I learn best when I am able to take notes, or the teacher is taking notes. Preferably both. I definitely can’t learn much when the teacher is talking and not showing or writing anything. I find myself enjoying the topic much more when I have a visual aspect in almost any way. It is really difficult for me to understand, learn, fascinate and remember the information given with just audio. This is something that I know I should definitely improve on so that I have a well rounded and wide range of skills. However, I do learn best when there is a visual aspect involved during class. In terms of working with others, I don’t get very fussy with who and how many people I work with. Sometimes it’s nice to work with similar people as me, but also having those people where you first think my god how am I going to work with them? But then they come up with amazing and extremely different ideas that I would have never thought of! Anyways, I learn best when there is a visual aspect, wether that would be me writing notes, the teacher writing notes, making posters ect
My worst trait is
My worst trait is probably being too shy and not saying or asking the questions I want to ask. I am just not an overly confident person, and I admire the people who are. Being too shy or quiet during class can get quite annoying and can get frustrating when I want to say something but I just can’t. I am hoping during Galileo I can improve those traits and at the end, to be much more of a confident student.
My best trait is
My best trait is being optimistic. I think, or at least I hope, during negative or challenging times I am the one to turn things around and see the positive side of things. And I am definitely inspired by positive and open-minded people.
I often wonder
As a teenager, you wonder, a lot. You wonder about anything in the world that comes to your mind. Wether it’s important or not, positive or negative, realistic or not…pretty much everything. However of course every person has experienced different situations, seen different sights yet also see things in a different view. For me, I wonder a lot about what it would be like to stay in one primary and then one secondary school for my whole life. This, I wonder a lot. If I would be smarter? Would I be more confident? Would I have better or more friends? Would I have had different skills as I do now? Would I be a better student? All these questions come up, pretty much daily.
The hardest thing I’ve ever done was
The hardest thing I have ever done was probably going to all my different schools. Mostly the last three. I left Malaysia after I finished year 6 to move to Melbourne or Nigeria, we weren’t sure yet. So school ended in June because of the American school system and we didn’t find out until September that we were finally moving to Melbourne. I then started school at St. Leonard’s in October, however I had to skip half a year because of the Australian school system. After two weeks of attending my new school, my family decided to take me out. Mainly because it was quite a religious based school, and well, I am not Christian. Anyways, I then started school at Wesley College in November to end grade 7. Life was pretty good at that point. However then in June, my family moved to the city and we heard so many good things about University High School that they decided to move me there! So, anyways I have been attending UHS since then, and I am definitely enjoying it.
During that one year I attended 3 high schools which was definitely hard, however now I am grateful for all that has happened because at least I’ve been able to see how different schools work and how there are so many different teaching styles. This will definitely be a positive part of my life, yet also one of the more challenging parts 🙂
The last possession I would give up is
I have this massive box I keep in my room, that is filled with all of my cards, special photos and anything else personal that I could never replace. If there were to ever be a fire, I would definitely take that with me….and my phone 😉
This term I am looking forward to
This term I am definitely looking forward to being pushed out of my comfort zone. To experience different situations. To overcome some of my fears. To be a more confident student. To see things in a different perspective. To get along and to meet new people. Just to overall learn to be the best student I can be 🙂
What image would you put on a postcard of Melbourne? Why?
Probably a nice picture of the city at night. I find Melbourne a beautiful city, especially at night. With the city lights reflecting off the dark river. It would be a stunning picture. I’ve seen quite a few postcards with the city already, but to me, that’s a beautiful representation of the city for those who have not yet been to Melbourne.
Which Melbourne person would you most like to sit next to on the tram? Why?
Thats a hard one, but probably my  brother Max. He is so crazy and he will do anything you tell him to do. He doesn’t care how weird he is, and he definitely doesn’t care what people think of him. If we were on a tram together we would probably have the time of our life just to get to our destination.
If you could invite any 3 people from history to dinner who would you invite? Why?
Martin Luther King Jr.,Michael Jackson and Abraham Lincoln. Ha, that would be quite an interesting dinner! I think it would be awesome to be able to ask all the sort of questions I have and just to be able to tell them all how much of an affect they have made throughout history.
Describe Melbourne in three words. Â Â Â
