Week 7

What differences have you noticed amongst the two Sharman classes? Are you closer?
I definitely agree that the two Sharman classes have grown so much closer than at the start of Galileo. It feels like one big class, rather than two glasses together. Not only have I gotten to know people from the other class, but I have also become closer with the people in my own class. I have also noticed that 9s1 is a lot quieter than 9s2 and so I think it’s a really good mix to have them both in one class. I really enjoy being closer with everyone because you feel belonged and even though at times it may not seem like it, but I think we all do have each other’s backs and I find that pretty amazing.

Have the connections that you made on camp remained strong?
Yeah I do think the connections are still present however I think it is a little bit harder to keep it, now that we are back at school. Life get’s a little in the way, and also I feel like last week we haven’t had any classes with the whole of Galileo so we haven’t really had that group connected since camp. However I do think it is still there. In terms of the individual people I have made a friendship with on camp, it is definitely still strong at school.

Did you enjoy being able to choose your theme this week?
I actually didn’t have the choice to choose between Philosophy and Performance because the other groups got to choose a little bit earlier, so once we got on Performance was already taken. However I am still glad I got the opportunity to learn and discover things about Philosophy, I found it so interesting that I may want to head off in that direction for my career. I find it so incredible.

What was the most interesting moment either on trail or in the class session? Why?
Both trail and the class on Philosophy were really interesting in their own way. I found during class I learnt more and discovered what Philosophy is and what areas it covers.  However on trail, I found it interesting how I chose not to cheat on the test, but to bend the rules a little with the sports game. What makes us choose these outcomes? And why? So really, both were equally as interesting, however I did learn more during class.

How are you feeling about your team project? Has your group changed how it works together since the mini trail presentation or are you behaving in the same manner?
Honestly, nothing has really changed since the mini-trail. I don’t know whether that is a good or bad thing, but I am definitely happy and pleased with our group. We always know what we have to do, and we do get it done. We haven’t had Seamus in our team project group for a while, so we have had to do a little more work. However everything is going great and I am really excited for our Options Trail and Action Project.

  1. Hi Tori,

I think that studying philosophy is an asset no matter what career path you take; it really supports critical thinking and reasoning. Do you know if your new school also offers philosophy?

    Cheers,

    Carly
